Abstract :
The explicit time domain integral equation (TDIE) technique was used to analyze the transient scattering and radiation for arbitrary open thin wire structures. Three kinds of temporal basis functions were considered: triangle function, exponential function and cosine function. It will make a great difference of the late time oscillation when using different temporal basis functions. An explanation for the cause of instability is that if the temporal basis function has a rich high-frequency content, the spatial discretization may not be fine enough for these high frequencies. The accumulated error will lead to latetime instability. For arbitrary open thin-wire structures, the cosine temporal basis function provides the most stable explicit marching-on in time (MOT) solution, based on TDIE method, than the others. Several arbitrary thin wire examples are presented to illustrate the superior stability of the cosine temporal basis function
