Title :
Need for EMC standards in India
Author_Institution :

Abstract :
In the exponentially growing electrical and electronic world market, there is a strong need to evolve/adopt EMC standards that are acceptable world wide in order to avoid trade barriers. This will only help our industry grow and will enhance the acceptability of our products not only in advanced countries but also in the fast emerging markets of third world countries. An effort will also be required to enhance the awareness of EMI/EMC aspects for both users as well as manufacturers. If EMC implementation is taken care of at an early stage of design, the increase in cost will be marginal and the belief that an EMC implemented product will be much more costly is really unfounded. Apart from this, there is also a strong need to evolve and harmonize occupational standards against EM radiation to ensure against the health hazards of the end user of electrical and electronic goods
