Abstract
We design a vibration control system that includes a 3 DOF mass-spring-damper structure for the analytical model of a building that is excited at the base of this structure by an external dynamic force, and one active mass damper on the top of this structure to generate control forces for attenuation of the structural response. Two control systems based on μ synthesis and H∞ control are designed for the structural system and the resulting control systems are compared in terms of nominal performance, robust stability, and robust performance to stress the necessity of considering the parametric uncertainties in designing the control system
