Abstract :
Optimisation has been a difficult task in electromagnetic problems. This is mainly due to the mathematical complexity of these problems. One of the limitations in most of the conventional optimisation methods is the number of variables that can be optimised simultaneously. Genetic algorithms (GA) are emerging as a powerful search and optimisation technique. The power of GA lies in the parallel exploration of the search space, and this provides robustness to these techniques. Genetic algorithms are studied with a view of using them as a tool in reducing EMI in the design of electromagnetic systems
