Abstract :
A simplified fiber tapering simulation model is discussed in this paper. Tapering process is solely conducted by constant pulling speed and independent of material properties. Travelling burner tapering system is imitated in the simulation model. The simulation model has a controlling GUI and contained script files that capable to perform taper shape calculation and simulation. Both forward and reverse case with the constant and varying hot zone conditions are available with this simulation model. The resultant shape of fiber taper can be simulated prior to the real time tapering process. Furthermore, the initial condition that required for producing the specified taper shape is able to be determined.
