Abstract :
A new six-port junction based on micro-strip technology is proposed and designed. It consists of two Wilkinson power dividers and two -3 dB micro-strip directional couplers. The circuit operates at 10 GHz and the bandwidth of the model is measured and it is larger than 10%. We employed advanced design system (ADS) simulation and optimization. The two input ports connect with local oscillator signal and RF signal, respectively. The I and Q signal are composed by two of the four output signals. With this simple structure, small size, low cost and good performance, the micro-strip six-port junction can be used as communication receiver. Saving mixer, I/Q signals can be obtained through direct demodulation. Compared to other receivers, broader bandwidth is provided. It also can be used in miniaturized circuit with its small size.
