Abstract :
In ad hoc networks, the throughput of the network and energy efficiency depends largely upon the performance of the medium access control (MAC) algorithm. Especially, energy efficiency is an important issue since the battery power of the mobile terminals is limited. In this paper, we propose a new scheduling MAC scheme. In the scheme, the TDMA frame consists of N time slots, and each node is assigned one transmission slot different from those of other nodes in each frame. It allows a node utilize the slots pre-assigned to other nodes under a range of values for accessing probability. We evaluate the performances of our proposed MAC scheme with the other scheduling schemes proposed by Ju and Oikonomou in view of system throughput and energy efficiency. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme gives better performance. At the same time, our proposed scheme is simple and feasible.
