Abstract
For portable applications with multi-media capabilities, real-time video decompression with extremely low power levels is needed to extend battery life. The single-chip subband decoder described in this paper implements the real-time subband decompression used in many compression algorithms with minimum power consumption. Furthermore, this single-chip decoder does not require any external hardware support such as off-chip memory or video control for the delivery of 30 frame per second video signals to a color display.
