Abstract
Recent advances in control of hypnosis during general anesthesia are presented. The compartmental model used for controller design is briefly described. The anesthetic agent used is isoflurane, hypnosis is measured by the Bispectral Index (BIS). By considering additional clinical requirements a new controller was designed and tested in the operating room. The controller is designed to handle constraints and measurement failures, which ensures safer performance.
