  • Abstract
    The texture retrieval approach based on Gabor filters has been shown to be very useful for texture retrieval and is widely adopted. We examine this approach in detail and question if this is a suitable approach. We then propose an alternative approach that does not use filters. Our experimental results and analysis show that our proposed approach performs better than the commonly used approach based on Gabor filters
