Abstract :
The results of an experimental study of the effects of streaming electrification on the heat transfer of transformer oil in annular duct models are reported. The polarity of the charge in the oil entering the test section was controlled using different filters in the upstream of the oil flow. A reduction in heat transfer was observed when negatively charged oil passed over paper/press board surface; whereas an enhancement in heat transfer was observed with positively charged oil under similar conditions. With uncharged oil, heat transfer was either inhibited or no enhancement was noticed
