Abstract :
Presents a high capacity mass storage subsystem based on the use of ANSI X3B6 ID-1 recorders. The physical repository and recorders are capable of using small, medium, and large D-1 cassettes with cassette storage capacities ranging from 14 to 125 gigabytes per cassette. Storage library configurations with capacities ranging from 5 to over 1000 terabytes are illustrated. Data transfer rates range from 3 to over 100 megabytes per second depending on the configuration selected.<>
