Abstract
The author focuses on the management processes for supporting the technical aspects of automation. The tasks associated with automation are console messages, tape mounts, and printer output. These tasks and many others are segregated into categories which make up multiple projects associated with automating management information systems (MIS), including the data center. The projects are broken into five functional areas: input, control, process, output, and management processes. Techniques for managing the automation process are presented along with time frames for automation.<>
