Abstract :
The DBC/1012, a high-performance, fault-tolerant, parallel-processing, database computer optimized for storing and processing relational databases, is described. In response to the need for online archival storage for data migrated from the DBC/1012, and in light of the advantages that expanded processing capabilities would bring to mass storage systems, the integration of the DBC/1012 with the optical storage processor (also known as file-tek storage machine) has been initiated. The phased integrations steps and the functionality provided as a result of the joining of these advanced technologies are briefly outlined.<>
