Abstract :
The development of a mass storage system (MSS) for a Unix-based supercomputer environment is discussed. The environment in which the MSS is to operate and the stages in its development are described. Functional objectives in the design and development of the MSS are outlined. A Unix solution that meets the requirements is presented.<>
