Abstract :
By embedding two slits on the ground plane, a radiation patterns control technology for portable device applications is proposed. The two slits increase the inductance of the connected portion of the ground and makes negative current unable to occur on the lower part of ground plane. The results show that proposed antenna design sifts the angle thetas of maximum radiation from thetas > 90deg to thetas > 90deg. This technology can be implemented to portable wireless devices nowadays to improve communication quality
