Abstract :
A novel cooperative routing protocol, namely throughput-optimized cooperative routing (TOCR) protocol, is proposed to improve network throughput in ad hoc network. Through calculation, we can deduced that by fixed transmission power, a cooperative node can raise received signal to noise ratio (SNR) at the receiving of recipient node, and then increase the probability of successful packets reception and the link throughput. Based on the route construction of the adaptive forwarding cluster routing (AFCR) protocol, the TOCR protocol chooses the cooperative node of each link hop by hop to get the maximum link throughput and then build the cooperative link of each hop. As a result, it can improve the network throughput by increasing the throughput of each link on the route from source node to destination node. Simulation results show that compared with the AFCR protocol, the proposed protocol can obviously improve network throughput.
