Abstract
An adaptive beamformer-Rake receiver is proposed for code division multiple access (CDMA) space-time block coded (STBC) systems in frequency selective fading channels (FSFC). The system is based on a blind code filtering adaptive beamformer at the base station and the Alamouti´s transmit diversity at the mobile users. The system performance is evaluated by simulation in terms of bit error rates (BER) and beampatterns. It is shown that, in severe FSFC, the proposed hybrid system significantly outperforms MIMO systems without beamforming.
