Abstract
This paper deals with an experimental study of contacts ablation in interaction with an ac arc discharge (half period 10 ms). Images obtained by fast camera are correlated to weight measurements to deduce the mean erosion rate for several types of materials. This paper is completed by thermography measurements to calculate the energy and the mean value of heat flux transferred by the arc to the contacts.
