Abstract
A novel stereo displaying method is presented in this paper. According to the basic stereovision principle, the relationship between binocular disparity and 3d scene depth is discussed with matrix algebra in detail. With computer graphics considered, the horizontal binocular disparity of spatial point is converted to pixel disparity on screen. Then a spatial range condition of stereovision is introduced properly, on which an efficient stereo displaying algorithm is designed. In a large scale 3d scene most of objects often fall beyond the valid stereovision range and only a small portion of the whole scene needs to be rendered into stereo image pair. Finally, an experiment is conducted with respect to a large 3d terrain. The result shows that our algorithm gains much more efficient than traditional ones and is valuable to stereo displaying of huge 3d scene.
