Abstract
The characteristics of antipodal Vivaldi antennas with different structures and the key factors that affect the performance of the antipodal antennas have been investigated. The return loss, radiation pattern and current distribution with various elliptical loading sizes, opening rates and ground plane sizes have been analyzed and compared using full wave simulation tool. Based on the parameter study, a design that is capable of achieving a bandwidth from 2.1 GHz to 20 GHz has been identified.
