Abstract
In this paper, we analyze a microstrip fractal antenna using RWG (Rao, Wilton, Glisson) moment method that models the microstrip antenna by planar triangular surface patches and then solves the resultant electric field integral equation (EFIE). Wavelet transform with orthogonal basis function is applied to the extremely dense impedance matrix to reach a relatively sparse structure indicating the dominant surface currents. The optimum sparsity is reached by taking advantage of the resemblance between the basis theory of wavelet and the iterated function system (IFS) that generates the fractal structure. The input impedance and the radiation pattern of a microstrip Sierpinski Carpet fractal antenna is presented using the aforementioned method.
