Abstract :
Orthoimages have become a popular visualization product and planning instrument. To generate orthoimage product, mosaicking is a necessary process which combining multiple orthoimages into a single seamless composite orthoimage. In the procedure, seam-line searching is a crucial step and it determines the quality of the mosaic of orthoimages in a degree. In this paper, a seam-line optimized method based on difference image and gradient image for aerial images is proposed to improve the quality of mosaic. To minimize the differences in overlap area, a radiometric normalization based on the Iteratively Re-weighted MAD is carried out before the seam-line searching. The seam-line searching is based on bottleneck model and the gradient image together with the difference image is used to constraint in the searching process. The experimental results indicate the proposed method is valid to make the searched seam-line avoid the buildings or objects that are higher than the ground.
