Abstract :
A new hybrid approach to synthesizing generalized Chebyshev microwave coupled-resonator filter is proposed in this paper. The proposed method combines the advantages of both direct synthesis by similarity transformations and numerical synthesis by optimizations. In the method, a coupling matrix is first transformed into a middle configuration called midway coupling matrix by optimization methods. Then any other structures are realized from this midway coupling matrix by direct synthesis upon the availability of similarity transformation
