  • Abstract
Fast and accurate method for detection of ferroresonance is desirable property for improving power quality. This paper presents novel technique to discriminate ferroresonance from other transients such as capacitor switching, load switching and transformer switching. The proposed approach is carried out at 4 serial stages. Firstly collecting primary signals. Secondly wavelet is used for decomposition of signals. Thirdly features exert on each wavelet coefficient. Fourthly select features, which have prominent effect on classification. Experimental results indicate that the proposed classifier with its own feature has more high classification accuracy with regard to the other approaches in the literature for this problem due to both computation time and accuracy.
