Abstract :
This work shows that the early stage of current flow in a geophysical transmitter-loop after switching off the current can be described by a model based on distributed parameters. The basic features of the measurements are explained by our model. According to our results the choice of the correct damping resistor for a transmitter-loop is dependent on the resistivity as well as on the permittivity and therefore on the moistness of the subsurface. This is in accordance with other experimental results where the early stage of TEM measurements obviously where influenced by the moistness of the ground
