Overview of optical and wireless communication R&D in the 863 Program

Summary form only given. The 863 Program is China´s most important high-tech research and development program. Communication is one of the four topics of the information technology area of the program. Communication topic includes three main important orientations: 1) new generation information network technology; 2) optical communication technology; and 3) personal communication technology. The aim of the program is, through the carrying out of its projects, to put forward some technology standard suggestions having international influence, develop some communication system with China´s own intellectual property and application value; set up a high performance broadband information pilot network, and train a research team with sustainable development for communication technology area; promote the development of communication industry. This presentation will focus on optical communication and personal communication of the 863 Program.
