Abstract :
A newly developed hard/soft-ware technology of designing a computational server of industrial control grid, called FPGA-CS, replacing the traditional grid-computational server which is located on hart-disk of industrial control computer (ICC) by using a FPGA-based grid-computational server which is embedded into the ICC through PCI-bus slot, is suggested. Also the test experiment and application are introduced. Comparing the FPGA-CS with the traditional industrial control grid server (ICG server), the former has some considerable advantages such as capability of fully parallel calculation (basically better then the DSP), high speed of data-translation on the I/O ports, avoiding the frequent data-transmissions between CPUs, possibility of on-line structure reconfiguring of control functions. Thus, this technology can be widely applied onto the on-line, real-time (the control strategy and/or control mode can be changed according to the changing of conditions of environment and requirements of user by using the on-line structure reconfigure technology of FPGA), and remote control processes, and the usage of FPGA and its installation through PCI-bus slot allows it to be easily manufactured with very low cost and conveniently used, resulting in a very wide and effective application field assisting the distributed operation technology based on multi-CPU grid-server.
