Abstract :
This paper presents a new soft switching dc-to-dc converter that employs two separate transformers. Unlike previous topologies where two transformers are used as a functional substitute for one large transformer, the proposed converter utilizes two transformers as its key operational components. The proposed converter achieves high conversion efficiency by eliminating or minimizing the switching and conduction losses, while retaining all the benefits of using two small low-profile transformers instead of one large transformer. The operation and performance of the proposed converter are demonstrated with an experimental converter that delivers a 3.3 V/20 A output from a 44-52 V input at the maximum efficiency of 94%
