Abstract
This paper describes a research activity performed to investigate the possibilities offered by the measurement of the charging current in polymeric films in the evaluation of the relevant ageing processes. The measured currents were compared to the results of a computer simulation, based on the assumption that the current “slow” transient is due to the motion of elementary dipoles, and that the relaxation times are associate to a gamma distribution function. The computed results allows one to determine the distribution of the elementary charge of dipoles, which gives information about the evolution of the ageing processes
