  • Abstract
This paper presents a conceptual model for user centered human-computer interface design. It considers that the user´s task analysis and description is analogous to knowledge acquisition and representation for knowledge based systems. The paper presents TAOS, a task-and-action oriented framework used to define a modeling language of the domain (KL-ONE like language) and a methodology for building and validating the user´s task description. It also demonstrates how TAOS is particularly adapted for the description and analysis of the user´s task in the context of human-computer interface design
