Abstract
Permanent magnet switching flux (PMSF) motor combines the advantages of both SR motor and PM motor. All 3-phase PMSF motors reported previously have 12 poles on the stator where a magnet is embedded in each pole and 10 poles on the rotor. In this paper, a new structure motor is proposed. It has also 10 poles on the rotor, but only 6 poles on the stator. Basically, the proposed structure is superior to the conventional structure in the aspects of torque density, copper mass and winding ohmic loss, and its cogging torque can be minimized with proper rotor-skewing. Furthermore, by combining he conventional and proposed motors, another new configuration is also presented
