Abstract :
This paper proposes an efficient algorithm for edge detection. Our algorithm is based on an improved Gabor wavelets-based (IGWs) edge detector, and can detect edges with eight directions. Morphological operations can be used as techniques for images pre- or post-processing, such as morphological filtering, thinning, and pruning. In this paper, we use it to thin the edge images extracted by IGWs. Experimental results show that the proposed method outperform the conventional edge detector algorithms.
