Abstract :
The transient resonant properties produced by objects buried in lossy medium under short pulse illumination are studied in this paper. Both the measurement by a type of Short-Pulse Ground Penetrating Radar (SP-GPR) system and the numerical calculation by Finite-Difference Time-Domain (FD-TD) method are respectively made for the transient resonant properties of different wires buried in a lossy medium. The measured results and the numerical ones are compared and a good agreement is obtained between them. The mechanism of the resonance phenomenon is analysed by the Singularity Expansion Method (SEM)
