Abstract
A new algorithm is presented for the construction of the state-space macromodel of a rectangular waveguide section including a homogeneous dielectric inset. By extending the philosophy of the state space-integral equation (SS-IE) approach to the said class of structures, the method directly leads to the generalized admittance matrix in the form of a pole expansion in the s-domain. Though the method is presented with reference to the simple 2D case of an H-plane structure, its philosophy can be extended to the S-domain modeling of 3D structures containing arbitrarily shaped and/or inhomogeneous insets
