  • Abstract
This paper presents a comparison between two different techniques applied to speed sensorless induction motor drives. The first scheme presents a modified recursive least squares (MRLS) speed estimator while the second one evaluated is the widely known model reference adaptive system (MRAS) speed estimator. Both are used concurrently with a robust model reference adaptive controller (RMRAC) in the speed control loop. In this paper, experimental results for MRLS and MRAS techniques were obtained with fixed point DSP-based (TMS320F2812) setup. State variable filters are employed to obtain the differentiation of the signals for both estimators. The dynamic and steady state characteristics of these two systems are evaluated, including parameter variation and torque disturbances
