Abstract :
A new waveguide structure, with properties similar to those of a helix, is reported. The structure can be fabricated using printed-circuit techniques. Characteristic equations and dispersion characteristics for the structure are presented. These results show that some of the guided modes of the structure have slow-wave nature similar to that of the helix; other guided modes of the structure are similar to those of a NRD waveguide. Measurement results are also presented. The structure is expected to have applications in guided-wave, radiating, and electron-beam devices
