  • Abstract
Virtual reality technology offers opportunities to create new products, which could be applied to the cognitive rehabilitation of people with acquired brain injuries or neurological/psychiatric disorders. The effects provided by virtual environments (VEs) stimulate cerebral neuroplastic changes, enhancing the rehabilitation process. This article discusses issues related to this field and presents the main features of a development process for an integrated VE for cognitive rehabilitation. Finally, initial results of an experiment with a group of schizophrenic patients are presented
