Abstract :
In this work, a miniaturized printed resonator using a planar Mobius strip bisected along the circumferential direction is presented. The Mobius strip increases the circumferential length of the resonator with the same radius as that of the conventional ring resonator. This characteristic of the Mobius strip realizes miniaturizing the physical dimension of the resonator along with maintaining the same resonant frequency. This miniaturization is theoretically proved by using the Mobius topology. Moreover, in this paper, a novel configuration to create a resonator topology is introduced. The proposed topology proposes a possibility of the more miniaturized printed ring resonator. The proposed resonator can be applied for circuits requiring a low resonant frequency in systems that integrate MMIC and planar circuits. The proposed method for miniaturization can be applied to other circuitry such as antennas, oscillators, and filters
