Abstract :
This paper presents an implementation and comparative study of fuzzy logic based intelligent control and the conventional Proportional, Integral and Derivative (PID) control in a real time mode for rectilinear plant. PID controller has been implemented on Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA), NI-PXI-7833R using LabVIEW software package. For implementation of fuzzy logic based intelligent controller the FPGA is used as real time data acquisition platform and the fuzzy controller is implemented on the host PC. Fuzzy PD and Fuzzy PI + fuzzy PD control have been successfully implemented. The comparative study of performance of intelligent controllers like fuzzy PD and fuzzy PI + fuzzy PD is done with the conventional controller on the basis of amplitude error and the time lag between the plant excitation input and the plant response. It has been found that fuzzy PI + fuzzy PD controller outperforms the fuzzy PD and also the conventional PID controllers.
