Abstract :
In this paper the design, fabrication and test of a 90deg hybrid coupler MMIC based on an ultra compact quasi-lumped design is presented for use in the 24 GHz ISM frequency band. The insertion loss and isolation of the coupler are 0.5 dB and -17 dB respectively, and the return loss for the coupler is better than -15 dB over a 14% bandwidth. The technology used is GaAs and the coupler consists of parallel lambda/8 long 50 Omega lines separated by lumped capacitors. The structure occupies 0.15 times the area of an equivalent lambda/4 distributed hybrid coupler
