Abstract :
This paper presents the performance results of the multi-hop wireless ad-hoc routing protocol (multiWARP). MultiWARP is a hybrid routing protocol that minimizes the number of route request (RREQ) packets transmitted between nodes in a directed way, termed "covercasting", in the reactive mode. The proactive component utilizes routing table minimization to decrease the amount of data contained within route update (RUPDT) packets, as well as a novel supernode mechanism for diverse networks. A vital feature of a wireless ad-hoc routing protocol is the ability to repair broken routes that can occur due to movement of the nodes. MultiWARP uses the existing routing table at each node to repair broken routes and/or optimize routes on the fly. The performance evaluation has been carried out using the IEEE 802.11 MAC layer and observing the behaviour of the network by introducing a TCP traffic source between mobile nodes
