Abstract :
Majority of torque & position estimation and control algorithms for a switched reluctance (SR) machine tend to ignore dynamic effects and the effects of mutual coupling between different phases. This assumption is reasonable for most industrial applications, but these parameters cannot be ignored in high performance systems such as military and aerospace applications. It follows that there is need for a more accurate model of the SRM which incorporates these effects. This paper presents two simple diagnostic techniques for the estimation of mutual inductance of an SRM using no additional circuitry. This information can be used to implement adequate compensation techniques for precise control. Simulation and experimental results are included to prove the practicality of the proposed approaches
