  • Abstract
This research is interested in unveiling the hype surrounding the Electronic Government (eGov) phenomenon and in shedding more light into the different issues surrounding this emerging global trend. Unlike electronic commerce and the private sector, eGov sets at the heart of governmental services and represents a unique paradigm on its own with different constituents and targets. Therefore, it is expected that the challenges facing eGov adoption and diffusion to be spread across a nation´s spectrum. This research disentangles many issues surrounding the eGov phenomenon looking at strategy, goal orientation, determinants of adoptio.n and implementation, evolution, benchmarking, and assessment. The research then depicts an agenda for eGov success at the national level.
