Abstract :
Optical response of polarization sensitive materials is derived from the phenomenological point of view. It is found that the polarization-sensitive response function is expressed by the tensor product of the electric field vector and its complex conjugate. We analyze the reconstruction of polarization holograms in arbitrary geometry using vector coupled wave equations. The condition that the polarization of reconstructed signal is equal to that of recording signal is discussed.
