Abstract :
Well-known receiver architectures such as heterodyne receivers and homodyne receivers usually require highly accurate component matching. In order to reduce the effort for the analog receiver front-end and to bridge the gap between system architectures and circuit technologies, the alternative Six-Port receiver was investigated. In this paper, we present a Five-Port Reflectometer applied as a direct demodulator for communication receiver applications. Analytical, simulation and measurement results indicate that the proposed Five-Port direct receiver is able to demodulate a phase modulated RF signal.
