Abstract :
This paper proposes a power management strategy to control a hybrid stand-alone system that consists of a renewable source (photovoltaic) and storage devices (battery, fuel cell). To optimize the power management strategy, power cost of storage devices should be minimized and the lifetime of storage devices should be maximized. A number of operation mode changes may significantly reduce the lifetime of storage devices. Based on a conventional strategy considering the power cost, the proposed strategy is developed to reduce operation mode change. A simulation model for the hybrid system has been developed using PSCAD/EMTDC. Simulation studies have been achieved to compare the conventional strategy with the proposed one.
