  • Abstract
    To achieve burst carrier synchronization and demodulation of QAM, a new Viterbi-type algorithm is developed by the use of data-aided frequency estimation. This algorithm can quickly acquire the exact carrier offset, then remove it during the process of demodulation. Simulations show that the algorithm approaches coherent demodulation at only a little expense of short pilot data, thereby being applicable in any broadband transmission with large carrier frequency offsets
