Abstract :
A new technique, named as temporally enhanced erasure codes (TEEC), is developed as an enhancement to the existing forward error correction (FEC) technique. In TEEC the scopes of encoding/decoding are expanded beyond block boundaries, and they may overlap with scopes of neighboring blocks. To show its advantages, a real-time protocol was implemented using the TEEC technique. In terms of bandwidth requirements and end-to-end delays for packet delivery, it is shown that the protocol employing TEEC outperforms block-by-block-based protocols
