Abstract :
We present 1×8 and 1×16 optical power splitters based on MMI coupler in GaAs-GaAlAs. The input and output single mode waveguides are optimized by the discrete spectral index method (DSIM) and we obtain moderate square spot on the output in deep-etched rib waveguides. These splitters have good optical performance. They are suitable and important components in modern-day optical communication networks
